All my sculptures, models, and structures are made from handmade paper clay and recycled, repurposed, reclaimed, reused, reimagined, and rescued items. Sometimes I begin with an idea or the idea takes shape when I begin working with the clay. In either case, the sculpture or model creates itself and my hands follow. This particular piece tells a story about fairytales.
This is a real boot that wore out its purpose as footwear and became a story. The gnome on the swing, the large vine, and the wonky chimney give hints as to the new purpose of the boot -- a home to a fantasy.
I also make models and relief-type wall art. The latter is shown on the Gallery page. Some are lighted from internal battery-operated LEDs. Some have hinged doors and are equipped with miniature furniture and accessories inside. I also do select custom work and commissions.
